Child Abuse Statistics

• In 2007, less then 1% of offenders against children in Denton County were strangers
• 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18
• 1 in 5 children are sexually solicited while on the Internet
• More than 80% of child sexual abuse occurs in one child/one adult situations
• There are approximately 39 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the United States
• More then 67% of all sexual assault victims are under age 18
• Serial child molesters may have as many as 400 victims in their lifetime

Child Abuse Prevention Training

• Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children-teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse
• Evidence and research-based curriculum
• Free training
• For any adults that come in contact with children; i.e. parents, teachers, coaches etc.

• Training is about 3 hours and includes a interactive workbook
