Child Abuse Statistics
- In 2007, less then 1% of offenders against children in Denton County were strangers
- 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18
- 1 in 5 children are sexually solicited while on the Internet
- More than 80% of child sexual abuse occurs in one child/one adult situations
- There are approximately 39 million survivors of childhood sexual abuse in the United States
- More then 67% of all sexual assault victims are under age 18
- Serial child molesters may have as many as 400 victims in their lifetime
Child Abuse Prevention Training
- Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children-teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse
- Evidence and research-based curriculum
- Free training
- For any adults that come in contact with children; i.e. parents, teachers, coaches etc.
- Facilitator will come to your location or hold the training at The
- Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County
- Training is about 3 hours and includes a interactive workbook
